Everything Disney World Announced at D23 2026

Adult Disney World fans reviewing future attraction concepts from all four Florida theme parks beneath the title Everything Disney World Announced at D23 2026

Disney’s 2026 D23 showcase delivered a long list of theme-park announcements, but not every reveal belonged to Walt Disney World. Disneyland, international resorts, Disney Cruise Line and other projects shared the same stage, making it surprisingly easy to leave the presentation with California and Florida news mixed together.

This is the Florida-only version. The Disney World D23 2026 announcements include major new details for all four Walt Disney World theme parks: two Piston Peak rides and two Villains Land attractions at Magic Kingdom, a phased Monstropolis opening at Hollywood Studios, new Tropical Americas attraction details at Animal Kingdom, and significant changes involving Spaceship Earth, Dreamfinder and Figment at EPCOT.

The Short Version

D23 2026 was more about new names, stories, ride details and creative direction than immediate openings. Carousel of Progress and parts of Monstropolis have announced 2027 timing. Most of the other projects remain undated. Guests visiting soon should be excited, but they should not rebuild an upcoming itinerary around attractions that Disney has not dated.

Magic Kingdom: Four New Rides and a Classic Reworked

Piston Peak Gets Two Named Attractions

Disney finally put names and substantial ride details behind the Cars-themed expansion coming to Frontierland. Piston Peak National Park will contain two attractions: Cars Ridge Run Rally and Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along.

Cars Ridge Run Rally is the headline attraction. Riders will race across national-park-inspired terrain, climb a snow-covered Piston Peak, descend over a camelback hill and navigate geysers before reaching a finish line covered by Lightning McQueen and Mater. Disney says the newly developed ride vehicle will physically respond to the terrain through its tires and suspension instead of merely simulating an off-road experience.

Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along is the newly revealed second ride. The experience is built around the demolition-derby school bus from Cars 3, represented by a large animatronic host. Disney has not announced an opening date for either attraction.

Villains Land Has a Maleficent Coaster and Mirror Realm Dark Ride

The villains-themed Magic Kingdom expansion now has an official name—simply Villains Land—along with the stories behind its two major attractions. Disney describes the land as a dark fairytale forest transformed by a corrupted wishing well. Familiar villains have used its poisoned magic to create their own fortresses and palaces.

The first headliner will be a Maleficent coaster racing through enchanted briars around her mountaintop fortress. Imagineers say it will incorporate coaster elements they have not attempted before, although Disney has not explained those elements yet.

The second attraction will be a Mirror Realm dark ride. Guests will encounter the Magic Mirror beneath the Evil Queen’s palace before being transported into a realm filled with Disney villains, physical scenery and special effects. Disney compared the overall land’s scale to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but it did not announce an opening year. Our existing Villains Land guide follows the project’s broader history.

Carousel of Progress Returns in Late Spring 2027

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is receiving more than a cosmetic refresh. Disney announced that Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston will voice the mother and father in the updated production. The show will include a reworked 1980s scene and a new final act set in a possible future with robotics and space travel.

This is one of the few D23 announcements with a defined window: the updated attraction is scheduled to debut in late spring 2027. Because the attraction is currently unavailable, visitors should verify its status in Disney’s app before making plans around Tomorrowland.

Hollywood Studios: Monstropolis Starts Opening in 2027

Disney’s Hollywood Studios received a much clearer picture of its Monsters, Inc. future. Parts of Monstropolis will open in 2027, even while work continues on the long-awaited suspended door coaster.

  • Glob Theater: Mike and Sulley will host “Welcome to Monstropolis,” featuring a new original song by Randy Newman.
  • Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza: A quick stop for pizza beside a Monsters University Alumni Club.
  • Harryhausen’s: A restaurant inspired by Mike and Celia’s date, complete with an animatronic sushi chef and a menu Disney says will extend beyond sushi.
  • Scareporium: The land’s souvenir shop for human tourists.

The phased opening matters. “Parts open in 2027” is not the same as “the entire land and coaster open in 2027.” Disney has not yet dated the door coaster, so travelers should resist turning a broad opening year into a specific vacation promise.

Animal Kingdom: Tropical Americas Comes Into Focus

Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto Will Have No Height Requirement

The Encanto attraction now has an official name: Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto. Guests will enter Casita on Antonio’s gift day, riding aboard animated furniture assembled by the magical house. The journey ends in Antonio’s rainforest bedroom, where Disney says more than 50 animals will appear.

Disney confirmed that Stephanie Beatriz, Jessica Darrow and Diane Guerrero will return as Mirabel, Luisa and Isabela. More importantly for family planning, the attraction will have no height requirement.

Disney also named Tropical Americas’ carousel El Carrusel de los Animalitos. It will feature 22 carved animal figures drawn from Disney and Pixar stories. The land will also contain a large hacienda-style quick-service restaurant, shopping and a Maya-inspired play area. Final menus and an opening date remain unannounced.

Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent

The second Tropical Americas headliner is officially titled Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. This will be an original Animal Kingdom story, not a copy of the Indiana Jones attraction in California.

Riders will join Indiana Jones inside a Maya temple near a former underground water cave. The expedition is pulled through a portal into the underworld, where bats, scorpions, fire and a serpent guardian await. Disney says archaeologists, anthropologists and Maya experts are consulting on the attraction’s cultural details.

D23 also delivered a crowd-pleasing detail: Harrison Ford is the model for the attraction’s Indiana Jones Audio-Animatronics figure. The temple façade is already under construction, but Disney did not announce an opening date.

Expedition Everest’s Yeti Is Coming Back to Life

The shortest announcement may have produced the loudest reaction: Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum said the company is bringing the Yeti back to life inside Expedition Everest.

That sentence is the full confirmed news. Disney did not provide a schedule, describe the restored movement or announce an attraction closure. Until those details arrive, claims about exactly how the figure will operate are speculation. The sensible headline is excellent; the operational details are still pending.

EPCOT: Two Foundational Attractions Face Their Next Chapters

Spaceship Earth Will Shift From Communication to Connection

For the first time in nearly two decades, Spaceship Earth is being reimagined. The attraction’s familiar history of human communication will expand into the broader idea of human connection, carrying the story into the internet age and beyond.

Disney describes this as a new evolution of the attraction, not a replacement of its optimistic EPCOT identity. However, Disney has not announced a closure schedule, reopening date, narrator or detailed scene list. Those omissions matter to anyone choosing travel dates.

Dreamfinder and Figment Will Take a New Journey

D23 ended with an announcement EPCOT fans have requested for years: Dreamfinder will reunite with Figment for a new journey into imagination.

Disney deliberately left the format open. It did not say whether this will be a completely new attraction, an extensive reworking of Journey Into Imagination With Figment or something else. There is no announced opening year. The characters’ return is confirmed; most of the project is not.

What D23 Did Not Tell Us

  • Opening dates for Piston Peak, Villains Land or Tropical Americas
  • A completion date for the Monstropolis door coaster
  • Spaceship Earth’s closure and reopening schedule
  • The exact format or timing of the Dreamfinder and Figment project
  • When Expedition Everest’s Yeti work will occur or how the restored figure will move

What These Announcements Mean for Your Disney World Trip

For trips in the immediate future, D23 changed the news more than it changed the touring plan. Construction walls and previously announced closures remain the practical concern. Our Disney World construction guide explains which projects can affect a current visit and which ones are still mostly background scenery.

For 2027 trips, watch two items closely: the late-spring return of Carousel of Progress and the phased opening of Monstropolis. Even there, wait for specific dates before booking a vacation around an attraction debut. Theme-park projects are complicated, and “coming in 2027” is not the same thing as “open during my week.”

For trips farther out, the overall direction is unmistakable. Magic Kingdom is adding capacity through two large expansions. Hollywood Studios is building an elaborately themed land with entertainment and dining, not merely a coaster. Animal Kingdom is pairing family-accessible experiences with a major thrill attraction. EPCOT is returning to foundational characters and ideas. Disney World is in a construction-heavy period, but D23 made the destination on the other side of those walls much easier to understand.
