Disney ends reservation requirements at Disney Parks in 2024
Beginning on January 9, 2024 guests who are visiting Disney Parks using a date-based ticket will no longer need to have reservations for a park. This means that starting that date, visitors will be able to go to whichever park they choose. This does not include Annual Passes. Annual Pass holders and Cast Members will see “Good to Go” dates where they will be allowed to visit the parks without reservations.
Park Reservations were introduced during the 2020 COVID Pandemic as a way to control crowds in the parks. They have been used recently to alleviate some of the problems faced by Disney due to worker shortages.
After much anticipation, Disney World Annual Passes went on sale this morning. As of 10am this morning those trying to purchase tickets through the Disney.com website were experiencing long wait times of over an hour.
There are reports as of noon that some visitors were receiving the following message:
Pardon the Inconvenience. Annual Pass sales will resume as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience and understanding
Disney has not made any announcements regarding annual passes, so this may just be a temporary computer glitch due to the high volume.
Check back soon for more information when available.

One day after announcing that Disneyland in California will be offering special discounted tickets on Monday-Thursday to California residents, they announced that they would no longer be offering their “Keys to the Kingdom” passes which are Disneyland’s annual passes.
There is no reason given for the discontinuation of this product. Speculation is that it is in response to them being sued for misrepresentation by a guest that had bought the passes, but was not told that she would need a reservation to enter the park and thought that the “No Blockout Dates” meant that she needed the reservation.
