  • Spaceship Earth Attraction in Epcot Closing for Refurb.

Disney announced this week that the Spaceship Earth attraction in Epcot will be closing for refurbishment.  The ride, which is in what has become affectionately known as the Epcot Ball, will be closing on May 26, 2020.

This will be the attraction’s fourth refurbishment.  This time will be the largest update that the ride has seen since it opened on Epcot’s opening day on October 1, 1982.  The update is said to include an Egypt area and new state of the art lighting.

There is no word on how long the refurbishment is going to take, but I am pretty sure that it should be completed before Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration in 2021.

  • Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros

The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros is a cute, slow, dark ride located within the pyramid in the Mexican Pavilion at Walt Disney World’s Epcot. It originally opened on April 6, 2007 and replaced “El Rio del Tiempo”.

The ride begins as a boat ride through the Myan pyramids in Mexico on one side and the “San Angel Inn Restaurante” on the other.  Soon you enter a tunnel where you meet Panchito Pistoles and José Carioca of the Three Caballeros in where they are looking for the third member of their group, Donald Duck. ¿Dónde es Donald? is often heard.

This spectacular voyage takes you through sights, locations food and the culture of Mexico via video screens along both sides of the boat route.  The music and the colors are splendid and this is an exceptional slow, air conditioned ride for all members of the family.

The ride includes a with a view of Mexico City and a Mexican Festival that reminds you of the “Its a Small World” ride and concludes with full animatronic figures of Panchito, José and Donald all together saying good-bye, adios and come back and see us again.
