Orlando’s FOX35 is reporting that guests are being evacuated from the Disney World Monorail near EPCOT parking lot toll plaza due to some type of emergency. Reedy Creek Fire and Orange County Fire Rescue responded on Tuesday morning for a stuck monorail.
Reedy Creek Fire has reported that all passengers have been evacuated and that there have been no reported injuries, guests or cast members.
Some guests reported a loud bang and a bright flash as the monorail came to a stop. This has not been confirmed, but if true, would most likely indicate some sort of electrical malfunction on the Disney World Monorail System.
This is a still breaking story so check back with Disney Dawgs for any further news and information
First responders we called to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort after an employee mixed chemicals in the kitchen are that resulted in some gasses.
The kitchen and restaurant were evacuated and several employees were evaluated on the scene. None of the employees were transported for medical treatment.
At no point were guests of the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort evacuated from the hotel.
From a post on the Disney Parks (@DisneyParks) Twitter (X) feed. Parking trams will be returning to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in September.
Parking Trams were suspended in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic and have since only returned to the Magic Kingdom parking lot.
Beep beep! This September, parking trams will return to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. With this update, trams will once again be available at all @WaltDisneyWorld theme parks. pic.twitter.com/ISw6PZiNJT
Disney ends reservation requirements at Disney Parks in 2024
Beginning on January 9, 2024 guests who are visiting Disney Parks using a date-based ticket will no longer need to have reservations for a park. This means that starting that date, visitors will be able to go to whichever park they choose. This does not include Annual Passes. Annual Pass holders and Cast Members will see “Good to Go” dates where they will be allowed to visit the parks without reservations.
Park Reservations were introduced during the 2020 COVID Pandemic as a way to control crowds in the parks. They have been used recently to alleviate some of the problems faced by Disney due to worker shortages.
Disney has released news that currently, bookings on the Galactic Starcruiser Experience Hotel has currently suspended hotel reservations and that one of the newest experiences in the Disney World Resort in Florida will close on October 1, 2023.
The final voyage for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will take place Sept. 28-30, 2023.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our Guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment. This premium experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our Guests and fans.
We will be contacting Guests booked for voyages departing on or after Sept. 30 to discuss their options and modify their plans. To prioritize these Guests, we are pausing new bookings until May 26.
We are so proud of all of the Cast Members and Imagineers who brought Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser to life and look forward to delivering an excellent experience for Guests during the remaining voyages over the coming months.
Disney World statement
There is no official reason given for the closure, but dwindling sales of the pricey two day adventure are most likely the reason.
There are currently no official word on if there are plans to repurpose the current 100 room hotel into a DVC or some other experience.

It was gone before we knew it. Harmonious, which replaced the temporary “Epcot Forever” nighttime show will be ending on April 2, 2023. Harmonious, will be replaced, coincidentally enough, by Epcot Forever.
Harmonious, was a show that was to celebrate Disney World’s 50th Anniversary and the show was well received, at night. Visitors would complain how the show barges were ugly and disrupted the view of Epcot.
This is a video from the YouTube Channel “The Frugal Brit”. Very interesting on how the changes in the parks have really effected visitors with both time and money. Take a look at the Frugal Brit channel, there are some really interesting and informative videos.
Disney has announced that the long-talked about reimagining of Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom will named ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’ and is scheduled to open in Late 2024. Although Disney announced the office name and approximate opening day of the reimagined ride, they did not announce when they are planning on closing Splash Mountain.
The following is from the Disney Parks Blog:
Strike up the band because we’ve saved a seat for you on this musical journey with Tiana and friends! The name of the new attraction evolving from the reimagining of Splash Mountain was announced today during ESSENCE Fest in New Orleans: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The all-new adventure which will bring guests into the world of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film “The Princess and the Frog” like never before is coming to Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland park in California in late 2024.
Walt Disney Imagineers have been frequent travelers to Louisiana while conducting extensive research to ensure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure preserves the heart and soul of the city that inspired Princess Tiana’s story. From exploring the French Market and the bayou, to consulting with academics, chefs, musicians and cultural institutions, Imagineers have received inspiration from all over the region and learned from local experts along the way.
This research was explored in detail today at the French Quarter’s historic Preservation Hall during an intimate event held in honor of ESSENCE Fest, happening this weekend in New Orleans. With its own distinct history bringing people together, Preservation Hall was the ideal location to celebrate an attraction where music and community are at the heart of a transformational journey.
The celebration included a panel moderated by Victoria Uwumarogie, senior lifestyle editor at ESSENCE Magazine. Joining me in this discussion were colleagues and friends Charita Carter, executive producer of relevancy activations at Walt Disney Imagineering, Ted Robledo, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering and Stella Chase, daughter of the late Chef Leah Chase who inspired Tiana’s story. Guests were treated to live art demonstrations provided by emerging talent from YAYA Arts Center, an organization we’ve engaged to commission artwork from alumna Sharika Mahdi. Music from the world-renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band echoed throughout the hall, along with a performance by the voice of Mama Odie and living legend herself, Jenifer Lewis.
Guests are in for a true treat with local flavor when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in late 2024. As Charita Carter shared, “in many ways, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a love letter to New Orleans. Like the musical city that inspired this attraction, Tiana’s second act is about a community working in harmony to achieve something extraordinary. She reminds us of an immutable truth we can all relate to: ‘if you do your best each and every day, good things are sure to come your way.’ And that’s a melody we can all sing along to!”
To be able to join New Orleans in the celebration of Black joy as we bring Tiana’s story to its roots is a full-circle moment I’m so proud to realize. Ted Robledo added that “the joie de vivre that animates this region so brilliantly not only inspired Tiana’s journey, but also our team at Walt Disney Imagineering.” It’s our intention to do that jubilant spirit justice when advancing the storyline of Princess Tiana at our parks.
First announced in 2020, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take guests on a musical adventure inspired by the beloved story and characters from the fan-favorite film. Picking up where the film left off, guests will join Princess Tiana, Naveen and jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure through the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome. Along the way, guests will encounter familiar faces, make new friends and travel through the bayou to original music inspired by songs from the film as they are brought into the next chapter of Tiana’s story.
Be sure to check back here later today for more exciting updates from ESSENCE Fest!
One day after announcing that Disneyland in California will be offering special discounted tickets on Monday-Thursday to California residents, they announced that they would no longer be offering their “Keys to the Kingdom” passes which are Disneyland’s annual passes.
There is no reason given for the discontinuation of this product. Speculation is that it is in response to them being sued for misrepresentation by a guest that had bought the passes, but was not told that she would need a reservation to enter the park and thought that the “No Blockout Dates” meant that she needed the reservation.
Beginning June 8, 2022 visitors of Disney World will no longer be able to purchase the Genie+ option in advance. Disney announced that as of that date, all Genie+ purchases must be on the day of the guest’s park reservation and visit. Here is the official announcement from Disney:
With the launch of new bookings, we will also make an adjustment to how guests purchase Disney Genie+ service, which remains popular and in high demand amongst our guests. From the beginning, our goal has been to launch, learn and evolve as we see how guests are using this service.
Starting June 8, Disney Genie+ will only be offered for purchase through the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit – we will no longer offer the option to purchase this service pre-arrival as a ticket add-on for dates remaining in 2022 and in 2023.
Those that have already purchased and added the Genie+ option for after June 8th will still be able to use their option.
